Bitch n.4

Bitch n.4, 2025 — the fourth and final work in the series Bitch, a series of works through which Kende explores the expressive possibilities of urban calligraphy transformed into a contemporary pictorial language.

Although it is the most compact panel in the series, Bitch n.4 retains the same visual intensity that characterises the entire project. The compact format intensifies the gesture, heightening the tension between mark and surface and inviting the viewer into a more intimate and close-up relationship with the work. The reduction in scale does not result in a loss of energy: on the contrary, each element appears closer, more direct and more perceptible in its material complexity.

The surface is constructed through calligraphic overlays, erasures, drips and glazes that bear witness to the creative process and reveal the composition’s many stages. Just as in the urban walls from which the artist’s language originates, each intervention leaves a visible trace that interacts with the previous ones, creating depth, rhythm and movement.

As the final instalment in the series, Bitch n.4 It also serves as a synthesis. The work brings together and distils the fundamental elements explored in the previous panels: the tension between impulse and control, between writing and abstraction, between urban memory and pictorial construction. The text gradually dissolves into the material, allowing a composition to emerge in which meaning is not read, but perceived.

Thanks to its versatile dimensions, the work is equally suited to being displayed on its own or in dialogue with the other panels in the series, maintaining in both cases a strong visual presence and a remarkable narrative quality.
