Wasted time

Wasted time, 2012 — a work on wood panel belonging to a central phase of Kende’s artistic exploration, in which urban memory is translated into dense, layered surfaces. The 160 × 140 cm dimensions offer a balanced yet monumental format, capable of engaging with the architecture without losing the intensity of the gesture. Writing, erasures and overlays construct a visual texture that evokes the continuous process of urban transformation, where every mark leaves traces of what has been and of what is being rewritten. The title suggests a reflection on time passed, not as a loss but as an accumulation of experience, memory and stratification. Created in 2012, the work represents a significant moment in the evolution of the artist’s calligraphic language and is now held in a private collection.
